Why Did I Buy This Book?
Could you even imagine never knowing if Harry kills Voldemort or Bella ends up with Edward? Quite simply I can’t leave a good series unfinished. After spending so much time getting emotionally invested in the characters it seems a waste to leave them teetering on their cliff-hanger without knowing how they end up.
Synopsis
After waking Roman from his coma Bryn faces the agonising truth that he doesn’t remember anything from the dream life they lived together. She decides to travel to German to under go experimental treatments to finally turn her back to normal. On waking from his coma Roman realises he has no feeling in his legs and not wanting to subject Bryn to a life looking after him he lies to her to drive her away. He remembers every moment of their time together and their separation is the spark he needs to push himself to get his mobility back. Once they are separated both discover a terrible secret, that Roman is Bryn’s true protector and without him the shadows that are increasingly present in her dreams will kill her. Roman must discover his hidden magical talents in order to fulfil this role and protect the person he loves most.
The Verdict
After the first being so promising, this book was an utter disappointment. The beginning starts off strong, mirroring the central storyline of the first in the series of the connection between Bryn and Roman and the idea that their dream world might not be real to both of them. From there the book descended into utter ridiculousness and confusion. A huge number of new characters are suddenly added which are hard to keep track of and in the end when you are unsure of whose side everyone is on. It’s almost hard to care when you can’t remember who the person is in the first place. The book lurches from one dramatic moment to the next and I found it very difficult to keep track of what was actually happening, was it happening in reality or the dream world or even both? To give the book some credit, I do think the premise that Bryn can control time and that Roman is her protector is a great idea however the author over complicates the whole thing doing far more harm than good. For anyone thinking of reading the series I would advise you to start at number one, enjoy that and then stop there because its all downhill.
